About Us

Purity is a women's and childrens ethical clothing boutique based in Farnham, Surrey. We aren't just another online shop, but we have a real store with real customers.  This gives us a great source of real life feedback on what items look good together and how sizing from different suppliers compares.  We then share this information with you on our website.  If you live in the Farnham area then please come in and see our full fairtrade and organic clothing range.

We are dedicated to providing fashionable clothing with an ethical conscience. We believe that beautiful clothing shouldn't cost the earth and try to source all our clothing from sustainable sources. You have the power of choice and it can be used to alleviate poverty and protect the environment.

The revolution in the ethical fashion industry in recent years has seen an increasing number of designers dedicated to ensuring their ranges are produced under the principles of Fair Trade, and have minimal effect on the environment.

Why choose Organic cotton?

Conventional cotton or organic cotton? Conventional cotton farming is one of agriculture's more destructive activities. Per acre grown it uses more chemicals than any other crop - accounting for 16% of the worlds pesticides. It has been calculated that to produce one cotton shirt one teacup of chemicals is used. It is reported that 3,000,000 people suffer the effects of pesticide poisoning each year, with 20,000 subsequently die.

Organic cotton is produced without these chemicals using natural products to halt the pests and traditional techniques such as crop rotation and intercropping to remove the need for artificial fertilizers.

Why Fairtrade?

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
