African Fertility Doll (Akuaba)

This beautiful handcrafted wooden fertility doll from Ghana is known as an Akua'ba (Akuaba). It is the ritual fertility doll of the Ashanti people and has the characteristic large disc shaped head.

Traditionally the Akuaba fertility dolls are either carried on the back of women hoping to conceive a child, or placed under the bed.
